Menu Trends of 2012

Happy New Year to all!

Interested in what food trends are popular in 2012?  These work for any type of event -- corporate, social or weddings! Successfulmeetings.com recently surveyed about 1800 professional chefs and asked them "what's hot in 2012?"  Locally sourced food is top, closely followed by nutrition.

That being said, here are the trends for the new year!
  • Locally sourced meats and seafood
  • Locally grown produce
  • Healthy kids' meals
  • Hyper-local items
  • Gluten-free/food allergy-conscious items
  • Locally produced wine and beer
  • Whole grain items
  • Newly fabricated cuts of meat
  • Farm/estate-branded items
  • Food trucks/street food
  • Artisan spirits
  • House-made/artisan ice cream
  • Non-traditional fish
  • Children's mini-menus (smaller versions of adult menu items)
  • Culinary cocktails
